The Bug is an amazing little knife. Emphasis on little! Shorter than your average key, this is a great little blade for your keychain - you could even thread it on a neck cord for every day wear.
Speaking of everyday wear, being part of the Spyderco Slipit range and very much less than 3" blade length this little cutie complys with S139 excemption. This means that it is not automatically classed as an offensive weapon and is suitable for everyday carry without 'good reason'. Caveats apply of course!
Here's what Spyderco say about the Bug:
Aerodynamically the bumble bee shouldn't be able to fly but someone forgot to tell the bee. The flight of the bumble bee defies both nature and one’s expectations that something that small can perform such a grand maneuver. Like bumblebees, Spyderco Bugs perform unexpectedly. The Bug, not much larger than a bee, is our latest addition. Last year Spyderco started offering SLIPITS which are non-locking slip-joint knives. They have no locking mechanism holding the blade open, relying instead on resistant pressure at the pivot area when the blade is extended and being used. Bugs are part of the SLIPIT group.

The flat ground blade is 3Cr13MoV stainless steel available with a PlainEdge. The Bug’s handle offers a flat surfac­e for a small amount of engraving or embellishment and can be customized for use as jewelry or a gift item. Positioned on the end of the handle is a lanyard hole large enough to thread with a chain and be worn around the neck or slipped onto a key chain. The Bug is the smallest folder in our lineup.

The GrassHopper’s size is closest to that of a true penknife with its blade over two-inches. Its PlainEdge Cr13 stainless steel blade stays open when you’re cutting, held by resistant pressure at the knife’s pivot area. GrassHopper handles are chamfered with no squared-off edges to dig or bite into a gripping hand. The handle is also stainless steel with a laser engraved Spyderco bug and enough blank area for a small amount of engraving or customization as jewelry or a gift item. This is the best sharpening system we've found, way easier to use than the Lansky for example. It's quick to set up and easy to get the hang of. It even includes a DVD which features Sal from Spyderco demonstrating the way to sharpen knives, scissors etc.

"Chances are you've heard it said "a sharp knife is safer than a dull one". We believe this quote originated from first hand experience and find it to be true. The Sharpmaker was Spyderco's first product, which we made and sold before getting into the knife business. It's true -- First we made things sharp, then we made sharp things.

The Tri-Angle Sharpmaker (204MF) includes two sets of high alumina ceramic stones: A pair of medium-grit (brown) stones for aggressive sharpening and a set of fine (white) stones for professional grade finishing. The stones are triangular for sharpening Plainedges on the flat sides and SpyderEdges (serrations) on the corners. A furrow running the length of each stone lets you sharpen pointed items like fishhooks, darts and awls. Included is a set of brass safety rods protecting the users hands while sharpening. All components snap into the self-contained ABS plastic base and lid -- ready to travel with you. Die-cut into the base are keyed slots and holes fitted for the stones. They accurately set the stone's sharpening angle at a 30° (15° each side) or 40° (20° each side) for knives and a 12.5° scissor setting. Turn the base over, a channel lets you lay two stones side-by-side (flat-side up) for use as a benchstone. The lid snaps halfway over the base creating a handhold for stability while you're sharpening. Included is a set of brass safety rods to protect the users hands while sharpening. Ceramic stones, like glass, will break if dropped -- handle carefully. Use them dry, without oil, water or lubricants. To clean: scrub stones with a plastic scouring pad and powered abrasive cleaner, let air-dry. Also autoclave safe. System comes with instruction book and DVD."

The Doublestuff is a 303F and 303M bonded together and packaged in a leather pouch offering a variety of sharpening options.

This pocket stone fits in the palm and has both medium and fine grits packaged in a leather carrying case. It is autoclave safe (ideal for dental tool sharpening) or can be cleaned with a plastic scouring pad and powdered abrasive cleanser.

This knife was designed with the help of the guys at British Blades forum as an ideal Every Day Carry (EDC) for the UK. The blade length and locking system are designed to comply with the Section 139 exemption which means you do not need a "Good Reason" to have this blade on your person in a public place (as ever caveats apply!).

"The knife may be man’s oldest tool but today it is governed by different carry restrictions in nearly every country in the world. It seems: 'if man makes it, he must legislate it'. This is particularly true regarding pocket knives in the United Kingdom where legal guidelines govern the size and function of all pocket knives carried in public. One of these parameters is that folding knives not have blades that lock open. Spyderco addressed this by developing a non-locking folder expressly for the UK called the UK Penknife.

The blade on the UK Penkife is held open by a notched-joint at the knife’s pivot. When closing the blade the notch produces roughly twenty-pounds of resistance, functionally similar to traditional slip-joint penknives. To achieve a heightened sense of control and comfort, Spyderco designers added a deep finger choil positioning the index finger on the bottom of the blade directly under the thumb. This lets you choke up nearer the cutting edge with comfort and dexterity. The handle is foliage green G-10 with a tension-wire clip that carries deeply in the pocket, tip-up and either left or right-handed. The CPMS30V laser cut blade is available PlainEdged and ground flat on both sides.

"Laws and guidelines for carrying pocketknives are changing in countries all over our world. Several countries have enacted restrictions and parameters on folding knives, specifically on blades that lock open. Spyderco addressed this by developing a series of non-locking folders we call Slipits. Slipits are traditional Spyderco folding and clip knives (we’ve always called them CLIPITS) but have non-locking blades. Slipit blades are safely held open by a notched or slip-joint located at the knife’s pivot. Closing the blade, the notch produces resistance functionally similar to traditional slip-joint penknives. Heightening control and safety, a deep finger choil positions the index finger behind the blade directly under the thumb. This allows choking up nearer the cutting edge with comfort and dexterity. Positioning the index finger in the choil additionally keeps the blade from closing while cutting.

The Urban Slipits feature G-10 handles: C127OR Urban Wharncliffe Blade with safety orange G-10 handle and C127FG Urban Leaf-shaped Blade with Foliage Green G-10 handle. "As multitools go the byrdRench doesn’t resemble any other pocket tool on the market. Unlike standard multitool fare it has a full-sized knife blade that opens/closes one handed and locks open like a real pocketknife. It also comes with a pocket clip and nylon sheath so if you’re a hang-it-on-a-belt-loop person or a clip-in-my-pocket-person, you’re covered.

The tool’s housing is two stainless halves that join creating slip joint pliers (with a large or small bite) on one end and an adjustable 9/16” crescent wrench on the opposite end. Both work comfortably in the hand with contoured edges so there are no pinched fingers.

Separate the two halves and tucked inside is a set of four screwdriver bits including: A #2 and #3 Phillips-head as well as a #1 and #2 flat-head. The bit housing accepts any standard 1/4" sized bit including Allen and Torx® wrenches to customize your tool arsenal. A rough file combination hole-starter slide into a spring set in the housing above the bits. A pivot holds the tool’s two halves together. When rotated, the pieces extend and lock into a full-length easy to grip and torque magnetized screwdriver or crescent wrench. Releasing the pivot separates the screwdriver and knife portion of the tool from the crescent wrench.
